1 Stop Electronics review of the I-10K

Well we did some measurements of our own here. Nothing major. We had a Maco V5000 up. Took a few different readings on both the receive side and transmit side, and at different power levels using the same radios. Yaesu FT-102s. We then got an I-10K and put that up. The results:

1) Jays construction of this antenna is second to NONE. I was extremely impressed. Nice job Jay. My hat is off to you on this one. I like the square tubing at all the typical "weak points" of most antennas.

2) Assembly. Yes there is more to it than with most antennas. It is more difficult to assemble than some others, but I wouldn't say it's hard. Just follow the well written directions and you'll be in business. It's like anything else. When you get it all unboxed you're overwhelmed. Once you get startet, all the pieces fall in place.

3) Tuning. This antenna tuned out perfect. 1.0:1 SWR. We did all the measurements using the formula that Jay provided in the instuctions to set it for exactly where you want. It ended up being pretty broad-banded as well. I also like the fact that the ground plane tunes as well as the main mast.

4) Performance. We knew right off the bat just by the way it tuned we would see good results and we did. We picked up about 1 S-unit on transmit over the Maco and a little over 1 S-unit on recieve. I would say that is a good job. Remember what it actually takes to come up a number. We have noticed that all incoming signals seem to be stronger, judging by what most of the locals usually give us on the ole S-meter.

So I would say that if you are looking for an awesome Groundplane antenna, look no further then Jays. Granted it comes at a price, but it is truley the Mercedes-Benz of the ground plane antennas.
